Admissions

At any time during the school year, we are delighted to see parents who are thinking of applying for a place at our school. If you would like to visit us, please contact the school office to arrange this. All admissions from our school are dealt with by Norfolk County Council - Further details can be found on their website.

On Entering the School

Our aim is that children should settle into school happily and enjoy learning in a stimulating environment.  You are most welcome to view the school before registering your child. The Headteacher will normally arrange to show you around. Please telephone to make a convenient appointment.

If you have an enquiry regarding admissions please call the following number 0344 800 8020

Admissions policy

The Local Education Authority admissions policy, which the school is obliged to follow, states:

Children are able to start school in the academic year (September to August) that they will be five years old.

We Intake up to 60 children in out Reception Year. You can find out more information on the Norfolk County Council website regarding admissions.

We work in partnership with parents to make the start to school as well matched to the individual child as possible. We will always discuss how well you feel and how we feel about how your child is settling. We will structure arrangements accordingly. If parents feel that their child is not ready for full days when they start school, we are able to offer part-time places, building up gradually to full-time attendance.

We offer a structured induction programme to all our new children in the summer term prior to starting at the school. We work in partnership with many local pre-schools. Children come to us from a range of different pre-schools. Many children join us from the Beehive pre-school. The preschool committee is also responsible for running the breakfast and after-school club that is located next to the Infant School site in the Parish Hall.

Visits before entering school

In the term before children start school there is an opportunity for you to meet the Headteacher and the reception class teachers.  You can find out more about the school, talk to us and ask any questions you may have.

Children are able to attend sessions during the term before they are due to start. These take place during the school day. They are also invited to any events that are taking place at the school.  They will receive their own picture brochure to talk about at home.

There are lots of ways in which you can help your child get ready for school.  Some of the skills they will need are listed below:

  1. Undressing and dressing - fastening buttons and zips
  2. Changing from shoes into plimsolls or wellington boots
  3. Going to the toilet by themselves and using toilet paper correctly
  4. Washing and drying hands
  5. Managing their own midday meal - carrying a tray of food, using cutlery
